Exciting developments taking shape in and around Tamakuku Terrace

Palmerston North’s newest subdivision, Tamakuku Terrace, is buzzing with activity as construction is now in full swing and more dream homes are being built.

The exciting news doesn’t stop there; just around the corner, the final stage of the James Line upgrade is now complete, after four months of construction.
Group Manager of Property and Resource Recovery, Bryce Hosking, shared his enthusiasm for these developments in Kelvin Grove.

“We’re really proud of this subdivision and are excited to see new homes popping up. Tamakuku Terrace is a testament to the vision we have for our city. It’s about creating not just houses, but quality and well-designed neighbourhoods where families can thrive.”

With sections being snapped up and consents being granted, people have begun building and companies like Jennian Homes and Japac Homes are busy delivering their house and land packages. The first residents moved in earlier this year and they have been joined by many more as builds are completed. So far, 21 sections have been snapped up since sales began.

Mr Hosking says Tamakuku Terrace shows how committed Council is to getting people into their own homes and establishing new neighbourhoods within our city.

“Work got underway in January 2021 to turn Council-owned land on James Line into 114 sections for people to purchase and build on. While we still need to make room for more homes in our city over the coming decade, to keep up with population growth, this is a real win for us.”

The progress that’s been made on James Line is equally exciting, as it will make our city even more accessible and connected. The road has been upgraded and converted to function more residential inner-city street, with three water services under the road and a completely new reseal.

“As we watch new dream homes rise and improvements made to James Line, the Kelvin Grove area is poised to become a hub of activity, with smoother commutes and a thriving neighbourhood for years to come.”
